Diners at a Reading's Maxim casino can safely bet that eating there will be a real winner thanks to a new menu created by top chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Mr Novelli charmed guests, including Reading FC players, at the launch of his new menu at Maxims Casino in Richfield Avenue.

In a new initiative with the casino chain, Mr Novelli’s signature menu hopes to entice new customers to eat and drink at the venue.

He worked alongside the head chef at the casino, Tony Powell, to deliver his handcrafted menu and took him to his own academy at his home in Hertfordshire to train him on how to cook the new dishes.

Mr Novelli said: “The menu is very exciting for me as it is fantastic, it is full of colour and flavour while at the same time, focussing on simplicity.

“The launch of this menu brings the Las Vegas-style casino to Reading, as Maxims Casino is no longer just a gaming venue, it is a place to come and be entertained with fantastic food, an extensive wine list and live entertainment, all at very reasonable prices.”

He was at the casino on Wednesday to launch the venture.

Mr Powell said: “It has been a great experience and I feel very lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with Jean. The menu is fantastic and we have already been offering it for a few weeks and it has proved very popular.”

Carol Summers, general manager at the casino, added: “We offer something different from everywhere else in Reading. If people just want a cosy drink, a wonderful meal, or to gamble, we can offer all of that.

“We want people to know that they are welcome, even if they do not want to come on the gaming floor.

“We offer something for everyone and this new menu just tops it all off, and we are delighted to have Jean here tonight to launch it as it really is something special.”
